Emp App
Player: Grif
Contact:
Age: 28
Current Characters: Emizel
Character: Gladion
Age: ??? Looks to be about the same age as the player, who is canonly eleven. Though he could also be a year or two older. Personally for SPOILER reasons below I kinda want to guess he might be either 13 or 14.
Canon: Pokemon Sun and Moon (the vidia games)
Canon Point: After the player/main protag becomes Champion
Background: Wiki, contains Sun/Moon spoilers
Personality:
Gladion pretty much reeks of every DeviantArt "Original character, do not steal" character out there. Despite being Team Skull's enforcer for awhile he always seemed to be doing his own thing; in a cool, "I don't play by the rules" kind of way; And of course he even uses a Pokemon that no one else owns and by all rights, shouldn't even exist. Basically solidifying him as being every other kind of lone wolf, or dark edgy teen from the get go.
It seems to be implied that it might have been at least two years when Gladion ran away from the Aether Paradise. It's worth noting since when he does have to return back there with Hau and the protag, both Faba and Wicke comment on that Gladion had changed, a lot. Specifically the time he spent living on his own is the thing that hardened him. We never get to see what Gladion was like much younger, but it's not a stretch to believe that he would've been different than he is now. He and Lillie grew up on Aether Paradise, a place that doesn't seem to get very many visitors; Just the scientists, workers, injured Pokemon, and their mother.
Lusamine was not always as crazy as she is now, but it was her slow decent towards madness that set everything in motion. She began controlling every part of Gladion and Lillie's lives, treating them more as dolls than her own children. While Gladion doesn't seem to have any ill will towards her, he is not one just to accept it, and has the courage to at least fight back; Even though the thing that finally pushed him over the edge
Gladion's care for Pokemon goes pretty damn deep actually, although it's not something that he really openly brings up. Part of that could be his exposure to the Aether Foundation, which specializes in treating and protecting Pokemon that need it (at least before their leader became obsessed with jellyfish aliens). Unlike his sister though he's not a complete pacifist, and sees no wrong with Pokemon battles...so long as it has a purpose. Needless violence is not something he likes.
Even though part of why Type: Null was stolen was to stop Lusamine - and keep her from calling the Ultra Beasts - the Pokemon was very relatable to Gladion's own predicament. It had been created with only one purpose in mind, forced through numerous tests, and when it was too much for the Pokemon to handle the subjects had helmets put on them and were cryogenically frozen. In ways it was kind of similar to how his mother had begun to treat him and Lillie, so he could at least understand how the creatures much have felt. Leaving the Aether Paradise meant Gladion would have all the freedom he would have ever wanted, taking one of the experiments with him meant they could have a better life too.
But in order to live out on his own, and possibly save Alola from disaster, Gladion would need to get stronger, way more than he was right now. In the beginning - either because he was naive, desperate, reckless, or all three - he looked for a fast way to get this; and that's how he wound up with Team Skull. Gladion is prone to making mistakes and letting his emotions get the better of him. If he feels that there's something he needs he will do what it'll take to get it. If something infuriates him enough he will find the nearest thing to take his anger out on, especially if it fits the cause (ie: Your sister was captured and ones who could've stopped it let it happen - beat them up!). The hand motions and arm spasms that Gladion is infamously known for could also be apart of this too. Outside of it making him look cool
Although, Gladion is definitely not a pushover. His desire to be stronger might've been hallow, but he is still not someone to mess with; and in Pokemon battles he knows what he's doing. I mean he did level up and befriend a killing machine, that's not something just to snuff at.
Overall though Gladion's relationship with people is a bit...mixed? He's really not the social type, and for the most part he's not very talkative (rather just get to the point in conversations than beat around the bush). He also doesn't immediately trust new faces; actually making a comment that the player is smart for pretending to be someone else. And most of all he doesn't really see anyone else as being his friend, besides his own team. Instead the people he does trust are seen more as equals, without much of any favoritism, and well respected. If it weren't for those people, the odds are Type: Null would have never evolved and Gladion still would be making life choices he would regret later.
Abilities:
Gladion does not really have any unique skills of his own. He owns a Z-Ring, and at least a Steelium Z that Lucario wears. But over all his capabilities are pretty normal and human-y, like most Pokemon Trainers the bulk of what he can do is based around his team. He can be somewhat clever though - probably because he had to learn things the hard way, street smart, and strategic. His primary Pokemon is one that can be any type so his grasp on type advantages should be pretty good. He also grew up around a lot of science, even though he doesn't look like it, so there's a lot he could have picked up.
Alignment:
Piphron. Gladion has a really strong bond with his Pokemon (most of them are evolutions through happiness, after all) and has learned the importance of teamwork; like how it's just as important to have allies than to be stronger, all those other shounen-y lessons. Trust is not something that comes easily to him, but it was something that caused the most character growth for him over all. Besides I am sure he would absolutely love the salt crab (I mean that the most sarcastically. But then again, who even knows).
Other:
The Squad

- Its trust in its partner is what awakens it. This Pokémon is capable of changing its type, a flexibility that is well displayed in battle.
- Although its name was Type: Null at first, the boy who evolved it into this form gave it the name by which it is now known.
Silvally is Gladion's main Pokemon. It was originally one of the three Type: Nulls created to battle the Ultra Beasts. Its design and concept heavily copies Arceus (RKS even sounds like a play on words for Arceus), by being able to change to any type by the use of memory discs. Since it was able to break out of its helmet due to friendship, Silvally is very loyal towards Gladion, and affectionate. When it's not pokeballed Silvally can be usually be found curled next to him
As of writing this app, none of the other Pokemon really have much personality of their own yet, but hopefully will be developed as things more forward.

- Both its legs became wings, and as a result, it can’t move well on the ground. All it can do is crawl around.
- Silent and swift in its four-winged flight, it bites down on its prey before they realize what’s happening. In a heartbeat, it drains their blood.

- They travel in groups of four or five, leaving signs for one another on trees and rocks. They bring down their prey with coordinated attacks.
- They dwell in cold places. This Pokémon’s main food source in Alola is Vulpix and Sandshrew, which they carefully divide among their group.

- In order to create a more advanced Pokémon, an additional program was installed, but apparently it contained a defect that makes it move oddly
- Its program was modified to facilitate extra-dimensional activities, but that led to noticeably strange behavior.

- Not only does it perceive auras, but it has also gained the power to control them. It employs them in battle.
- They can detect the species of a living being— and its emotions—from over half a mile away. They control auras and hunt their prey in packs.
